This  Bufflehead drake stopped by a northern Connecticut lake, on his way to the summer breeding grounds in Canada and Alaska.Bufflehead nest in old woodpecker holes, particularly those made by Northern Flickers, in the forests of northern North America. He seemed a bit camera shy today however. Below are some other photos of these unique looking ducks that were more willing to be photographed.
