Hawk Eyes

Hawk Eyes

I’m fortunate to have several different hawks visit the backyard. This one is a Red-Shouldered Hawk, one of a pair.I almost feel guilty taking this photo cause he is spying on the bird feeder that the song birds gather at.Not sure how successful they are a catching song birds.Someone usually sounds an alarm and all the birds in the yard scatter to the trees and nearby bushes. Its like they got each others backs. So I was able to get a nice pose of him just before he flew off.I like the intensity of the eyes, and the lifting of the talons. This shot was taken on a very cold winter day last January. It was around 15°f, I was in my bird blind that I have set up in the backyard. The snow really provided some nice fill light from below.Over the course of the day I got several shots of different poses and a couple of flight shots. And they are still around this year.I gotta get back out there soon.Purchase Prints.
